IROQUOIS CLASS OF 1981 LINKS

Cindy - Among the first tasks is the choice of layout of your Main Page from which users will navigate your site. Below are several examples. I tend to favor image maps. They are neat, clean and easy to follow but do require that the user return to the Main Page for the next selection. Frames, on the other hand, permit users to go directly to their next selections. Warning - Webtv users may have problems with frames. Table layouts can be used effectively but care must be taken that they do not become confusing. I threw in the Java Script simply because they did some neat things with it.

  • Once you've selected a format, you will want to select a "theme." The one here is indians. The Class of 1948 uses the tiger mascot. That done, you now decide what you want on the site. Individual web pages for each classmate? We found that central to our site so each could have their own photo albums, guest books and the like. Do you want an events page leading to reunions and the like? Chat rooms? Whatever, you can then label icons or otherwise put the selections on the Main Page and get down to the nitty gritty of writing the site.

We do most of the creating on our local machine then transfer it to the Vancouver Server using ftp and use telnet to gain access to do final editing. Here is a map of where you are on the server.
